Pricing pages are built to be scanned. This post is built to be read. It covers the three ways to use TradeClip, the free trial, Pro and Ultra, and answers the questions the pricing table raises: what a clip is, when the count resets, what the watermark means, and what happens to your recordings when a payment fails or you cancel. Every number here comes from the same plan catalog the app and the billing system read, so if the pricing page and this post ever disagree, the pricing page is newer.

The three tiers#

Free trial. Try TradeClip for seven days with up to 10 clips. No card required. The trial is granted once per person, after you verify your email and complete your profile.

Pro. $14.99 per month, plus applicable tax. 40 clips per billing period. For traders who post every week.

Ultra. $35.99 per month, plus applicable tax. 200 clips per billing period, clean exports with no watermark, a priority render queue for cloud exports, and priority support.

All three tiers include automatic per-trade recording, set-hours automation, visual broker-window detection, crash recovery, one-click export, and the option to use the cloud clip library with its search by ticker, time and P&L. The differences are the allowance, the watermark, and the priority queue.

What counts as a clip#

A clip is a successfully finalized unique capture. That sentence is precise on purpose, so here it is in parts.

  • Capture. A recording made by the app when it detected a trade, or one you ended by hand with the overlay's Finish button.
  • Finalized. The recording ended, its fragments were verified, and the clip was placed in its own folder in your library. A capture that fails partway through, or a recording that was interrupted and could not be recovered, is not a clip.
  • Unique. The same capture cannot be counted twice. A retry after a network error, a duplicate request from the app, or a recovery of the same recording after a crash all resolve to one count.
  • Successfully. The count is committed only after the clip exists. The app reserves a unit when a capture starts and commits it when the clip is finalized; a reservation that is never committed is released.

Things that do not use another capture unit: previewing a clip, editing it, exporting it, re-exporting it in a different shape, downloading it from the cloud library, or deleting it. You can export one clip a hundred times and it is still one clip. Cloud exports use a separate cloud-render allowance. Clips you recorded before you had an account never count, and uploading them to the cloud library does not use your allowance either.

When the allowance resets#

The trial allowance is a lifetime number: 10 clips during your seven days, however you spread them.

Pro and Ultra allowances align with each billing period, the period your subscription is actually paid for, not the calendar month. If your subscription renews on the 12th, your allowance resets on the 12th.

There is no rollover. Unused clips in one period do not carry into the next. The app warns you at 80 percent of the allowance and again at 100 percent; the trial warns at 8 clips.

Upgrades, downgrades and cancelling#

Upgrading from Pro to Ultra takes effect immediately, prorated for the rest of the current period. Your current usage is preserved and the cap is raised to Ultra's; you do not get a second full bucket.

Downgrading from Ultra to Pro takes effect at the next period. You keep Ultra's allowance and clean exports until the period you already paid for ends.

Cancelling ends the subscription at the end of the current period. Until then everything continues to work. After that, new counted captures stop, and your local library, your edits and your existing local exports all remain usable. Local clips are never deleted by TradeClip.

The watermark rule#

Exports made on the trial and on Pro carry the TradeClip watermark, a small mark near the edge of the frame. Ultra exports are clean.

The rule follows the plan, not the clip. If you recorded a clip on Pro and upgrade to Ultra, a new export of that clip is clean. The watermark is applied when a clip is rendered, from the current entitlement, and is not baked into the recording.

Cloud library and rendering#

Cloud sync is off until you turn it on, on every tier, and it uploads only the clips you choose. That choice is a privacy setting, not a plan feature, and it is covered in detail in our post on local-first recording. What the plan affects is what the cloud does with the clips once they are there.

Cloud rendering runs long or large exports on our servers rather than on this computer. Pro includes 10 cloud renders per monthly billing period in the standard queue. Ultra uses a separate priority queue with reserved capacity and is subject to available capacity. The trial exports locally. Pro defaults to local rendering when its render allowance is used. Cloud rendering is a separate opt-in setting: it uploads finished-trade segments and editing instructions, downloads the finished video, and keeps a cloud-library copy only when Sync to Cloud is also enabled.

If your subscription ends, cloud clips are kept for 30 days and then deleted, with an email before it happens. Re-subscribing inside the window cancels the deletion.

When a payment fails#

If a renewal payment fails, your account enters a seven-day grace period from the first failed attempt. During the grace period you can keep capturing new clips and using the app; cloud renders are paused until the payment succeeds. We email you so you can update the card. If the period ends without a successful payment, the subscription ends as if you had cancelled: new counted captures stop, local clips and exports remain yours.

A payment dispute suspends new paid actions while it is resolved. It never touches local files.

Working offline#

The app checks your entitlement online, and it caches the result. If this computer is offline, TradeClip keeps working within the cached allowance for up to 72 hours, applying the cached watermark rule to exports. Captures made offline are reconciled when the connection returns, and the "unique" rule above means the reconciliation cannot double-count them.

Licenses and installations#

A subscription comes with a license key that binds the app to one active installation at a time. You can deactivate an installation yourself, for example when moving to a new computer, and activate the new one. If a key is lost or a machine is unrecoverable, support can revoke the old activation and issue a replacement key; the replacement is emailed once and shown once in the dashboard.

A note on the trial#

The trial exists so you can see whether the detector reads your chart and whether the workflow fits how you trade, before any money changes hands. It is deliberately not "full access": 10 clips, the watermark on exports, and the local rendering. Cloud rendering is included on paid plans. Everything else is the real product. If the detector does not read your setup during the trial, the diagnostics panel will usually show why, and support can help before you subscribe.
